As a multi-purpose vehicle with Italian styling, the Fiat Idea is noted for its attractive exterior and versatile interior, with the original models including sliding and folding rear seats. The Fiat Idea was first built in 2004 and took its base from the Project 188 platform, which is most well-known from the second-generation Fiat Punto cars. There have been a wide range of both petrol and diesel engines to choose from in the Fiat Idea range with both five- and six-speed gearboxes. The Fiat Idea is particularly popular in South America where a crossover SUV was launched in 2005 known as the Idea Adventure.
